Thinking of you.

I think about you all the time.
The "you" that comes to my mind is this strange sort of amalgamation of a whole bunch of things. People that stop me on the street, fans whose faces have stuck in my brain, my dear friends, my critics, sweet little kids that sing along, people who constantly are encouraging me to continue to do whatever it is that I'm doing. I think about you all the time, and my Catholic upbringing has heaped on a load of guilt for not being able to respond to every body and also for not writing more often.
I hope you can understand that as things start moving more quickly for us, it gets harder for me to stay quite as plugged-in as I have in the past. And to be honest, we've talked about trying to do a whole shit-load of video blogs and stuff, and I'm just not interested in trying to bombard you with meaningless snippets of stuff. (I do plenty of that without even trying!) I want my entries in this journal and my communication with you all to mean something to me. So I hope you can be a bit forgiving if I don't have as many letters to you as I should.
That being said, let me tell you what's up for now. I'm perched at my hotel table in a lovely little London Hotel that it literally down the street from Picadilly Circus (not a real circus, I found out) and just down the block from the Queen of England. I called to tell her I'm here, but I guess she hasn't had a chance to get back to me yet. I think London is one of the most magical cities in the world. Dripping with the most beautiful architecture and the kind of history you FEEL when you walk down the cobblestone streets. I feel like everyone here is smarter than me (which most of them probably are) but I try to hide it by using big words. I think it's working.
I am here with the acoustic trio boys (joshy and javi) to do a few showcase-y things for UK radio and TV. The album is not out quite yet here, so we are doing some preliminary promotion for when it comes out in June. After this, we are headed to Munich, and then Amsterdam. Really wish I had some time off to see more this time around, but I think it'll have to wait till next time we come back to do the tourist thing. There is so much to see in this beautiful world, and this trip has made me feel very small again. I look forward to getting some time to really explore.
We are beginning rehearsals for the headlining run in April, and the whole show is moving forward in bigger, new ways. Nothing drastic, just a few ways to make our stage show more interesting, and aesthetically appealing. For example, we have a BACKDROP now. And I'm upgrading to an electric upright piano on stage. And, we've had a giant paper mache confetti machine made in the image of my face that spews out bits of recycled newspaper from her mouth while I'm singing the word "down" at the end of Gravity.
No big deal... Just subtle changes that will enhance the musical experience.
Some people thought that last part was a bit much,
I disagree.
We also just finished the video for Bottle it Up. I'm so proud of it, and had a phenomenal time doing this one. The Boys are featured in the video and we worked with one of my new favorite people, Marcos Siega who directed. I'm also wearing a green dress in the video. Does it GET any better than that? I think not. The video will premiere on VH1 in the next few weeks, and I can't wait to share it.
All in all, I am still jaw-droppingly amazed at all this support from wonderful people like you. The song has officially gone #1 in the country. What the f*ck is going on here!? Y'all is CRAZY for doing that, but I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening, and for asking others to as well. What a ride.
I'll touch base again soon. Sending lots and lots of love from across the pond...

Hello! Your song "Bottle it Up" was on a list of ten of the most popular songs for my college adolescent psychology class. My portion of this little oral project involves: language used and age group most likely to listen to this song; and, at least three messages this song gives and the how they do this. I stumbled upon a youtube comment that said this was about your record company. After listening to the track, many many times (by the way Ive never heard it before, and I love it! It gets better each time!)I find the lyrics could have this meaning. I am the type of person who reads poetry for what it is, so when someone suggests an inner meaning I sometimes have an "AHAH" moment! Thanks for any help you provide, I am working with a group. Keep up the fantastic artistry, your voice is beautiful!!

Sounds like your having fun. You, know, I usually listen to retro 80's, power pop, high energy alternative music, but your music has really resonated with me. Your voice, the way your project what you write, and not to mention the way you look, revives and awakens me. I hate that I missed your show in Austin. I would have loved to shake your hand and take a picture with you, maybe next time. I practically listen to your music everday. Your music has really moved me. Sometimes I reluctantly feel like the men you sing about, then I wish I could be one of those men you sing about. Thanks for the high your music gives me.
"Between the Lines" is my favorite.

You're doing an amazing job, and I'm so thrilled that through all of this skyrocket to fame (that's the best way I can think to put it at this second, though I realize it sounds cliche) you have kept the YOU that makes your music so honest and inspiring. I know it's easy to let all of this go to your head really quickly and I think I speak for all of your fans when I say THANK YOU for not falling into that trap!

Can't wait to see you back in Texas again, you guys did an awesome job when you were here for the Hotel Cafe Tour!

I just wanted to tell you that I discovered your music when I passed out on my couch to vh-1 (very rare) last night and your awesome "Love Song" awoke me around 4am. Don't worry, the pleasant melody stirred me from my sleep, as the TV was on all night but your song was the only one good enough to wake me up=) It sounded vaguely familiar so I must've heard it before. Sorry, I know it's been out for awhile, but I really don't listen to the radio or watch MTV and such. Glad I found it though. I've been reading about you since this morn and thought I'd leave you a comment. Not sure if you'll see it. I added you on MySpace and also put Love Song on my page (shameless MySpace plug: www.myspace.com/jrdeleon). I see you're not coming to Detroit this time around. I hope Papa Smurf didn't scare you away, LoL. For future reference, you don't have to tip anyone to watch your car next time, but you do have a bus now, so it prolly won't be a problem=)
I'm gonna try to find out more about how you haven't had formal singing or piano training, as reported by wikipedia, and it didn't say anywhere if you were single or not. Just curious =) This is long enough, but I just wanted to end by saying that you seem like a cool person, very real, and you're adorable too. Good luck, Sara!

Just have to add to the posting. I have been a singer for years and I think we may have been doing the whole LA open-mic arena at the same time a few years ago. Discovering you a few months ago was revelatory for me. Your music brings back what we all need in pop music - intelligence, melody and true musicianship. You've inspired me to learn piano ... bought a Yamaha CL-550 and LOVING it! Gravity is challenging me to play right now. I'm working my way toward Love on the Rocks and Come Round Soon. You're GREAT!! Keep it up!

I enjoy every single song on Little Voice.

I really like the music & lyrics you write. You inspire me to write, whether I`m good or not doesn`t matter. I just want to learn how to dump my heart and feelings into a song like you do.

Anyway may catch you in Toronto on April 20 th. If I`m there and I can get close to you can I take your photo please I want to post it on my blog and show it to a bunch of hometown musicians at the London Music Club.

Thanks for the music ... keep it going, will ya!

Oh Sara--I am so proud of you! I know I speak for many of your earliest fans and friends when I say that we ALL knew you make it this far. Even without the papier mache confetti machine (which I agree is HIGHLY essential!!!), you were a star with nothing else onstage but yourself and a piano. I am five months pregnant and recently married (a lot's happened since WICKED!), and both my new hubby and unborn son are already fans of yours. People say that Mozart is the best listening choice to make babies smarter...but I think the little one can learn a thing or two from Sara B's witty, heart-felt and profoundly astute vocal stylings, as well. You are a woman who so accurately puts into words what many of us have felt in our hearts, but could not find the words to say. I am rambling. I love your music. You are a goddess! XXOO

Hi Sara,

I just wanted to say that I NEVER have been more moved by the way that you let yourself out there for the world to see and as a BIG FAN it just makes you that much more lovable. I knew the first time I heard your song "LOVE SONG" that you had a hit working. I'm more of a rock and roller but that song had me from the start. I don't know what it was if it was the lyrics or the way that you sing it but you captured me. I have since read all the info that I could and watched your video diaries just to get to know you. I don't want to seem like an obsessive fan or anything it's just that you have a distinctive sound and that fascinates me. I hope you can appreciate the interest and hope you reap the rewards of all your efforts, from what I'm seeing you have alot to offer in your music. Please don't ever forget where you came from and stay grounded because fame has ruined so many and it would be a shame to see you fall into that catagory of people that let themselves go. JUST KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!! LUV YA!!

Hi, Sara.

"Love Song" is very cool and I especially appreciate the 'heart's no really in it..." lyric as it expresses perfectly what i'm presently going through with a former gf who came back into my life after seven years. Guess a lot of us have been down this road.

I wondered if anyone has ever compared you to Laura Nyro, who, at 16, composed "Wedding Bell Blues ('c'mon, marry me, Bill...'). I think of you as Laura's musical heir apparent.

Wishing you continued success and wonderful experiences.

Its funny, how you can turn from being totally normal one day, to having millions of die hard fans worship the ground you stand on. Ahh the life. I bet it changes your whole perspective on things.i know it would make me crazy, in a good way though. Well i wouldn't exactly consider myself worshiping the ground, but i do listen to your music every day and i have honestly never heard anything like it. Its really funky and bluesy and so fun to play and sing.

My sister and i bought the sheet music for your cd and are trying to learn all of the songs, we want to cover them, my voice and yours are REALLY similar, so it sounds pretty much badass. We blast your CD in my work every day, and sing it LOUD until we see a customer coming, then we turn it down really quickly and right back up after they leave Haha.

This is such a feeble attempt at trying to contact you, but i really admire your music and lyrics. The way you put your songs together is mind blowing.i try but it ends pretty rough sounding and most of the time, really mediocre. Then again, i dont really try THAT hard.

well i bet you read a million messages of people babbling day in and day out, If only you could respond to every fan, i bet it gets overwhealming the amount of messages that you get. You do better than most at keeping your fans updated though. Kudos to that.
weeelllll, i really hope that one day you can come to Seattle, Washington. Id LOVE to go to a show, you are WAY good enough to headline, and you really should. Youll recognize me, just look for the crazy one in the front row singing all of the words to all of your songs, thatll be me. im sure that really narrows it down.

I wish you all the best in this craziness that you live in!
i bet its a BlAST!
Ill do my best to get to the top like you are, im just a small town girl with a normal dorky job, hoping that one day i can make it like you did!
In that case, you might be seeing me =]

Good luck Sara, Keep the music comin!

I don't know if you'll get a chance to read this or not, but I am a recent fan. I just got your CD about a month ago and I have to say it's quickly become one of my favorites. It's one of those that I've listened to over and over again because I love every single song, not the other kind where you only like four songs and you skip all the rest. my car has heard you so much that he thinks he's actually dating you (poor, misguided vehicle). Anyway, if you're ever in San Diego I will most definitely come see you and bring a gang of hoodlums to cause a ruckus. Have a grand time in England!

I love all the songs there, thank you so much for writing and singing them. Will you do any concert in Italy anytime soon?

Goodbye

Enrico
