Hallo!
We are several days into our return trip to Germany, and I have had some incredible times and some that are laughably uncomfortable. Take today for example, we got off our bus this morning to find ourselves playing at a venue in the heart of the red light district of Hamburg. Now I have to say, there are absolutely beautiful parts of this city, and the venue staff and our promoter are sweet as sugar, but so are the hookers and whips you can buy two doors down. Hmmm. Assuming people still come to the show, I might feel a little silly singing about things as innocent as Fairytales. But at least I talk about the fact that Cinderella could have a drinking problem. Now that's street cred.
We have just come from Cologne for a headlining show which was incredibly good fun, and a day off which was much needed. The show was packed and I still can't seem to get over the fact that we are halfway around the world and hundreds of people come to hear us play! Das is Geil!! Thanks to all who came out and made it such a fun night. Especially the guy that gave me a Wrestling Championship Belt with my name on it. And no, I'm not joking.
I wandered away the Sunday with beautiful Gothic Cathedrals, Bratwurst, the Rhine river, (Daniel's last name, dudes) and a bowling alley that should have been open but it wasn't. Boo to that. But yay to a great dinner with friends and a good night's sleep.
Our German adventure started in a beautiful city named Baden Baden, for the New Pop Festival. We played a sold out show to over 2000 people and the whole festival transformed this already beautiful city into a little fairytale world. Red carpets on the streets, twinkle lights everywhere, gorgeous old buildings lit up from the outside with purple, pink and blue lights. It was like an inside out disco ballroom, in a really good way. I have to work on my metaphors.
Oh! And I went horseback riding in the Black Forest and had lunch in a castle while the horses grazed nearby. How's that for Fairytale!? Woohoo!
We have a show tonight in Hamburg, and then it's off to Berlin, and finally Munich to sample a little bit of Oktoberfest! I'll make sure to post some pictures that hopefully capture the essence of it. I imagine we're pretty much going to act like idiots. That needs documentation.
A big thank you to all who support us and this music here in Germany. Especially our amazing brother Felix who lives with us when we come here. We have made some wonderful friends and had some unforgettable experiences and will always look forward to getting to come back to this amazing country.
cheers!!

The write-ups and videos that you have put together are wonderful, I appreciate your dedicated service to your fans and supporters. All the best to you and your staff.
Hi Sara,
I wanna say that I think you're great, and I absolutely lóve your music. Can't wait to see you in Amsterdam!
Lots of love, from the Netherlands
dude, if I was in the Red light district... i wouldn't be singing... maybe screamo music but that's it... I'd be walking around like David Elsewhere at every turn!
Hi Sara!
I saw an interview when you were in Germany online somewhere and it was really funny at first because when the guy introduced you, you were like HALLO! :) Also I voted for Eve's Rib on ideablob! I hope they win. I'm so happy that you're posting frequently and adding new videos! I love watching all of your videos especially the one where you do your version of the Thriller dance! You should seriously do that November 5th in Hartford at the webster! lol that would be so funny! Also I was on Josh's Myspace and on his upcoming dates he didn't put in November 5th in Hartford, CT at Webster Theater! Is he going?
Sara
I wanted to say a big thank you for last night's performance at La Scala. I only came across you earlier this year and since then I have "drowned" in the emotions of your album, Little Voice, with my CD player suffering under the strain of constant repeats of "Gravity" and "Between the Lines". You were simply out of this world last night and I felt humbled to be in the second row only a few feet away. It was a shame that you missed me shouting "sei bellissima" because you deserved to hear it. Every time I listen to Gravity it makes me have "brividi" (Italian for "shivers"), it is just such an emotionally raw song and it hits the spot that so many songs just don't hit. I suspected you would end the show with it and to hear it so close and personal was a real privilege. I hope when you come back to the UK you might consider going "up North" and not just London. I know you love poetry and would love it if you spared a few minutes to read some of mine at http://thesilentpoet.wordpress.com. The Final Act and Matrimonial Rose are recommended reads. I am going to be writing one just for you. Keep humble and keep writing. Con affetto

Hi Sara!

Well, tell when are you going to Brazil??? Anyway, I've come to the USA, and I'll se you in November in Providence =D
I wish you the best!
Sara, you're the best!! =)
I love your songs!
if you love Germany you'll love Brazil!
beachs, drinks, carnival, me! =P
good luck!
have a nice weekend!
Dear Sara B,
Really hoping to be able to see your show in Providence, RI next week. Hope you will consider playing both Gravity and Many the Miles--my two personal favorites of yours.
Your music is VERY powerful and your dynamic range and your vocal strength captivating. I especially appreciate the "stripped" versions of your songs, and the ability to hear you speak as a preface to Gravity. What a great "bonus" inside the cover! It allows your listeners to connect with you in a more personal way than the studio versions allow.
Do listen to your "little voice." You've proven that you can write music that people want to listen to. Do what makes sense to you as an artist and don't compromise for the record company folks on the next series of tracks. The world is a better place because you're in it. Congrats to you on your success. Please keep writing and singing!
Best wishes,
RW
Sara,
Your concert at the Fillmore was awesome! I just recently watched the DVD too, and I must say it was almost as good as actually being there at the concert. You are just too good to watch on DVD though. And I especially loved when you busted out with "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay". Very much appreciated by us Bay folks. You're freakin' amazing. Keep it up.
Someday I'd love for you to sign my Fillmore poster... that's one thing those DVD watchers missed out on.
SB and band members:
Wow, (as in holy sh__!). I am certain that I am not the only one in Providence tonight that was utterly BLOWN AWAY by how perfect you were...in every conceivable way. You had me at hello...(even as you introduced the RJ's)...but following your presence and performance on stage tonight, there is likely no performance, for me, that will parallel this one. You really brought it home! Between the Lines, Many the Miles, a great Counting Crows solo and Gravity as an encore... And, you seemed to have so much fun too. Bonus!
Wish you were here for multiple nights on your NE tour stop. Fortunately, for many of us, your Between the Lines DVD--which is spectacular too--will keep you in front of us until you return.
Congratulations. You earned it, and you deserve to be the headline act, anywhere.
Hello!
I just wanted to say that I just discovered your music, and I think it's wonderful.
Also, I grew up in Eureka too! I think it's great that someone from that little town made it big. I think that place breeds creativity, with all of the beautiful nature that surrounds it.
I hope to hear more from you. :)
