Troublogdour
It's a stretch, but stretching aids flexibility and good circulation. Can we really afford NOT to?

So... today is the Monday that begins the week we are in right now. Awesome.
We are going to play troubadour tonight and i'm super excited. We had rehearsal last night and it's kind of crazy to think about a live show again. The last few weeks have been devoted solely to these recordings we have been doing. The guys and I went into the legendary House of Blues studio up in the hills above everybody's favorite street.... Ventura Boulevard. Ventura's the new Sunset.
The back half of this incredible mansion has been converted into a studio in that very identifiable House of Blues decor. You know, sort-of circus meets cajun meets golden girls. (the golden girls are my addition, but i think they deserve to be there)

We spent two days recording "lights down", "many the miles" and "goodbye song". So many amazing moments. I couldn't help but pinch myself looking around thinking... wow, what an incredible thing to get to do. To record my own music and not on a hand held tape recorder. I feel so lucky and blessed to get the opportunity to go through this whole process. Not to mention the studio brought in free bagels and a veggie plate. I'm sold.

One really memorable moment was our recording of "Goodbye Song". That's one I wrote when I was listening to a lot of Ray Charles and Etta James. We played with different ideas of how exactly to record this song, but in the end the prouducers suggested doing it as a live performance. It was late night with candles lit and all of us playing at once. I was playing this amazing grand piano in the corner of the giant room and couldn't help but just lose myself for a minute thinking that this was the way some of the most incredible music has been recorded over time. Goosebumps, baby.... goosebumps. Our producers for these songs are grammy-award winner Mark Johnson and Robin Moxy. They have been awesome. It's been like extending the family, they make the studio feel like home. (but with no mortgage payment) They are really incredible people and I'm so grateful we got a chance to work with them.

Anyway, I can't wait to share this music with only the people that read this blog. Everyone else obviously doesn't care. Just kidding... but not really, but yeah I am, but not.

Yay Dorothy Zbornack!!
